At Ohla Boutique Hotels, we are committed to society, environment and sustainability, both in our day-to-day activities and the projects we support.
At Ohla Boutique Hotels we are aware of the impact of our activity on the environment, as well as on our social and cultural setting. We understand that tourism development must be sustainable, protecting the environment and making rational use of natural resources.
One of our main objectives is to improve sustainable management, assuming continuous improvement commitments in all areas of sustainability: social, economic and environmental, as well as customer satisfaction.
Hence, we are committed to sustainably managing our activity and applying the principles and targets agreed in the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the P.O.P. and the World Charter for Sustainable Tourism +20.
In our process of continuous improvement for better environmental management, among other points, we have reduced electricity and water consumption, and improved waste handling to enable a better recycling.
Beyond sustainability commitment:
We are determined to maintain and expand our network of associates and suppliers who are committed to local products and favour environmental certificates.
Reinforce our social commitment with institutions such as Mercè Fontanilles Foundation for the integration of people at risk of social exclusion, and high social value foundations such as Caritas, Fundació Roure, Fundació Trinijove or Fundació Guné.
We are committed to motivating, promoting and training our staff in good practices and Responsible Tourism, and to reporting both internally and externally on the company's environmental progress and actions.
Ohla Boutique Hotels show our commitment to fight against sexual exploitation or any other abuse or harassment, mainly of children, teenagers, women and minorities; and we shall also take universal accessibility measures.
Future expansion projects of the facilities or activities will be subject to sustainability and efficiency criteria in the use of resources.
This Responsible Tourism Policy will be updated whenever required, adopting and publishing new sustainability objectives.
The Institut Català de l'Energia has awarded the Energy Efficiency Certificate A, the most efficient possible, to the Ohla Barcelona hotel. This recognition comes from an energy report that has endorsed our commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.
Ohla Boutique Hotels collaborates with Fundiació Roure to promote the reduction of inequalities. During the month of May, Ohla Barcelona will be a collection point for clothing, kitchen utensils or objects in good condition that will later be distributed among those most in need.
The Biosphere Responsible Tourism certification, granted by the Institute for Responsible Tourism (IRT), guarantees compliance with international sustainability requirements and continuous improvement, thus recognizing the commitment of companies in the tourism industry.
Ohla Boutique Hotels has this prestigious certification by aiming on sustainable development, promoting good environmental practices in all our actions and guaranteeing economic, socio-cultural and environmental principles in our hotels, society and the environment.
In 2015, the UN set an agenda of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the next 15 years. These SDGs are the guide that Ohla Boutique Hotels has taken to create the project: "12 months 12 SDGs". Each month is dedicated to one of these 12 SDGs and we carry out related actions. Knowing our limits, we ensure that actions have a real impact.
We managed to make the whole team feel part of this project where everyone can contribute ideas and opinions. Official organisms of Barcelona have taken interest in the project and have highlighted its climatic, social, cultural and teambuilding benefits.
The company was founded in 1958 by Ramon Novell Vivó. Ever since it was launched, it has stood out for its commitment to buying the best coffee beans which allow customers to savour an exquisite coffee with an outstanding bouquet and unique aromatic profile.
